12,635. NAUTILUS SANCTION

NAUTILUS SANCTION
Serving cakes from a large wooden table,
freshly-grown Spring blooms and chairs
all around : Sounds like heaven all over
again. (It's an old silent movie. There
is no sound). Down at the corner, some
old Red Hook Theater tries featuring
a King Kong movie. Good luck with
that. There are more people standing
outside the ice cream parlor on this
first really warm day than there ever
have been inside that cinema palace.
-
Hard to believe a hundred years,
but that's how long it's been. Places
like this were gilded pretty back then.
It seems as if those earlier people
only worshiped two things: movies,
and banking, based on the palaces
they built. Forget about churches.
-
A bunch of kids go streaming by,
from school. I wonder if kids get
homework these days? Is it still a
practice? At St. Theresa's Convent
Catholic School I see Sister Mary
Major trying to direct traffic so the
kids can cross. There's a lot of
hit and runs in New York City, and
you'd be surprised  -  first off by
how anyone can get up speed, and
then, once they 'run,' where do they
go? It's a crazy gridlock of truck
trafficked streets, and half or more
are one-way. That sure cuts down
one's chances for exit, or to melt
into the crowd in a dark blue Lexus.
