Making Cars
I'm not sure how well I got
that across. But. I'm still
working here on developing
the context : The main fault
is in the assumption that there
are only the two binaries of
A and B to choose from, with
nothing in-between. In each
second that passes us by, there
are variations on everything.
It's impossible to cinch at just
the either/or facet of it, and
I'm still not yet sure why these
supposedly 'enlightened' people
would have traffic within that
format. Nonetheless, I work
with Chinatown for my next
example.
-
Using Chinatown as that example -
let's say it's envisioned as a flow.
Into that great flow of noise,
information, squabbling, transactions,
happiness, and grief, to name but
a few, there develops one grand,
background hum of constant turmoil
and change. Using those three words
again, there is NOT, for sure, any
'Completion' ever. The energy is
steady, and flowing; with a dynamism
always underway - flipping and
tossing everything. 'Satisfaction,' I
don't know about; but there was always
'Continuation,' ongoing. Back then,
don't know about; but there was always
'Continuation,' ongoing. Back then,
Mao Tse-Tung was still around
and his 'thought' leadership was
considered a big thing among
Chinese people. I don't know if
anyone here knows 'Chinatown'
as it was from the mid-70's, and
still is mostly now too, but it was
one, huge, reeking, strange, sloppy
environment - probably one that
the average Joe or Jane American
would not put up with. The Idaho
touristy types, they always were
present, but mostly just gawking
and gagging while they bought
a quaint 'Chinatown' bamboo
sun umbrella to take back home
and prove they were somewhere.
The rest of the place was a
reeking, running toilet of strange
excitement and commerce. There
were small pharmacy-front places
selling all sorts of roots, pills and
concoctions: potency pills, sex and
strength, muscle-power, vitamins,
duration, etc. Now you can buy
these same things, merchandised
as Viagra and Red Bull, say, behind
every neighborhood comic book
counter, legally or not. Stuff we'd
never heard of. Behind the counters,
drawers of blended and chopped
grasses and things : Teas, pills
and injections too. A real primitive
but vital medicine of applications
and ingestions - strange things -
bird beaks, powdered hooves, etc.
There appeared to be a vast, ancient
flow to everything running yet
right into this 'modern' era of
old believers and customs. For
'America' it was strange. This was
all such a running, constant, mix
that it only proved the point of
there most certainly NOT being
any limit of this or that. There
was an entire array of choices
and things, and to be restrictive
about it, to go 'Binary-Tutelage'
over it was downright stupid.
-
The 'flow' of things has taken
everything over and washed it
all clean. Mao Tse-Tung now
comes off as a bad joke, a myopic
nut-case, plus a killer and a
murderer too. Why revere that?
The same with everything
from back then - Castro, Cuba,
Katanga Province, Rhodesia,
and the rest. Forcing the taking
of a stance on any of that
ephemeral and passing nonsense
was just very stupid. But, the
point is made - of the Chinatown
flow. To begin with, amidst all
that, it's important to remember
we were raised on depending upon
5 senses, because 'that's all there
is.' Sight, Sound, Hearing. Taste.
Touch. Through those senses we
get what's called 'Logic.' Everything
that comes to us - we are told -
comes through one of those senses.
Only. We then 'decide' whether or
not it's true. And of course, that's
all of what our ridiculous schooling
programs are all about, and in
addition, we are pressed then
to EXCEL only at that! Carried to
its logical conclusion, that is how
we get our 'scientifically determined'
reality. It's a scandal, and I'll bet in
100 years people looking back
will not believe the programs and
manners by which we once abused
the minds and emotions of kids.
Whoa! Hold on there, Wo Fat!
What if those senses, important
as they may be, only read the
stream, only float like a pond
bubble atop and along a pond
filled with the 'water' of what
we never even see. A water of
Time and Being and Death?
Like a judge who tells a jury,
'No matter what else you hear
here, you are to ignore it. No
other 'side' issues will be
allowed during this trial.
The issue has been defined,
and you can only make up
your mind based upon what
you hear, and what you are told,
germane to this, in the courtroom,
and germane to the making of
this case.' Of course, by that, the
and germane to the making of
this case.' Of course, by that, the
verdictis then guaranteed already
to only fit certain criteria. Yes,
it's a limited, closed and boxed
it's a limited, closed and boxed
(binary-tutelage) decision-process.
By limiting ourselves thusly, we
have predetermined the outcome
of the debate. Other ways of
perceiving the universe? We'll
never know. Not from the
encapsulation of that Binary
Tutelage again. I wanted to
say, to Mary Tse : 'Jesus, Mary
(and Joseph?), get out of that
binary box and start thinking.
-
One thing I noticed, that sort of
clicked for me, was how the country
(this now is non-New York City stuff,
where this isn't that apparent) was
covered with towers, probably from
the 1920's and '30s, of all those very
high-voltage electric lines that are cut
through and over and along all sorts
of landscape features so as to make
the power-grid that powers our nation.
I wasn't around, of course, but I
suppose back in the early days the
decision was made, and whoever had
to make it did so, to electrify the nation.
I remember as a stamp-collecting kid,
I had numerous stamps of the 'REP,'
which meant 'rural electrification
program,' which had brought
light and power to the farther-flung
farmlands and rural areas through
the 1930's and '40's It seemed like
no big deal to us now, but it was.
Even today, all along my own portions
of NJ, Rt's 1 and 9 and Turnpike
and the inland counties, over and
through farmland and all else, the
roadside towers snake; you see
them everywhere, swaths cut. You
know how it all goes, and how it
grew - hair dryers, toasters,
televisions and all the rest. I
remember, back in Pennsylvania
in 1971, there were still some old
guys around who remembered all
those things - the WPA coming
in with make-work; the dirt roads
getting paved to finally solve the
mud problem, and the new-fangled
arrival of electric lights! A big
change in their life had been
underway, just on both sides
of the WWII years. In any case,
all those lines carry a very
high-powered current, everywhere.
I mean super high, so high that it
would blow things to smithereens
if it over-taxed the connections
for towns and villages; SO, those
stations that you see all along the
line, are called 'Step-Down' stations.
They take all this constant and
running high power electrity and
step it town to lower-usage
volumes, kilowatts and all that
junk, so that the streets and
telephone poles and wires and
lights can all be managed and
current for home use safely brought
in. Yes. Just think about that for a
moment. And then put it together
like this : that's exactly what I
believe the brain is. That's exactly
my connection here for this
Binary-Tutelage stuff I've been
going on about; exactly what I
meant by all the flow of consciousness,
through Chinatown or wherever.
It's all there, always flowing,
millions and billions of changing
moments, alterations, events,
connections, concepts, etc.
Obviously we miss 99% of it all.
We call the missed stuff 'Mysteries' -
mystic, other-worldly, strange, weird,
etc. But there are people that can
tap into that. A few, or some. And
of the rest, amidst all this power
flow, most people remain comfortable
with their brain acting as the
step-down station, filtering
just a few (those five) awareness and
senses level, so to live what they
then perceive as a normal life.
And are happy with it. And are
binary, and get by, and
finish up, and die. While that
massive, cosmic flow just
keeps on a'running.
