WHERE I'VE EVER BEEN
(in memory of Purlie Canterline)
She was that girl, the one people sang
about, always. Neil Young had her as
Cowgirl In the Sand, and Cinnamon
Girl too. I think Dylan called her 'Sad
Eyed Lady of the Lowlands'. Leonard
Cohen even called her Susan.
-
I never knew her, really, because she
never stayed in one place - always
running off in some other guy's mind
to wherever it was he lived. Runaround
Sue? Devil With a Blue Dress On?
And let's never forget Mustang Sally.
