16,002. IT'S TOO DIFFICULT

IT'S TOO DIFFICULT
It's too difficult, getting through
this life on time, gauging the paring
confidentials of  both talk and time.
I walked through city streets with
my tongue hanging out, sometimes
just hungry, sometimes just blind.
-
I studied all those speeches and the
biblical cadences of more important
times  -  Lincoln's Second Inaugural
address was pretty perfect; MLK's
'I Have a Dream' speech too. They
weren't just words, they were pacings.
They sent the mind reeling a little
more than did the modern day. 'Ask
not what your country can do for you,
ask what you can do for your country.'
What the heck was that steering us to?
-
The only thing the TV ever did was
set the streetcars reeling; turning the
towns and cities and people into mega
morons on the prowl. More to do and
less to do it with. If people ever saw the
realities behind the puppet-shows they
lived, we'd all be gone in a minute.
-
It was too difficult  -  and still is  -  to
manufacture the self-deceptions that liars
live. It's just easier to take than to give.
