I NEVER HELD THE SCEPTRE
Now that the old Queen is dead, I
wonder for the morrow - ought
I move the chess pieces along the
board, or just wait? What has this
left us? Another void and a paralyzed
board with no moves left? I certainly
cannot now move the Queen, who
once protected the King? What sort
of mad game is that, that I never
held the sceptre, nor ever chased
a pawn, nor knocked off a rook
or a knight? Only the Bishop
knows, and he's gone. Even
the Devil may place this game,
but He doesn't mess around.
