I ASKED
I asked the old lady I was
watching what it was she
sought. She said 'I would
like five of those free tomatoes
in the library's free-food bin.'
Saving her the steps, I went
and got them for her. It was
too easy not too. She was
grateful, and smiled at me.

Nearby, a man was browsing
books, and the librarians at the
counter were busy - making
change, and fiddling on their
computers. The change was
for the 'Used Books - Sale!',
and the computers? Well, that's
just the way things go today.
I wonder, how many years
before 'paper' is no longer
within our daily vocabulary.
