POSING RENFRET
For posing Renfret I got five hundred dollars;
all I did was stand about all day and make sure
things looked right and Renfret stayed in place :
drawing time at some inner bank, up in Riverdale,
where the art-classes are long but the hours are short.
The landscapes are grand, and then I went over to
Wave Hill, which is also grand - there's a book
there, a ledger, kept by Mark Twain during the
time he and his family lived there - in a wonderful
longhand, the man's very scratchings. Interesting : and
the Hudson below. I sometimes can't believe grandeur,
and other times I can. This was both, a separate place
and a separate peace - either way, I'll take it.
