4286. SO ACH

SO ACH:
Mesmerized me so much so ACH.
I have nowhere else to turn - only
a few streets back from time, I can
still remember the walkway and the
Alley. Some fitful cannon of a man.
-
Inside me, there was nothing at all -
I tried remembering words, but each
night out in those cold, chilly days,
the men among me - huddled around
barrel fires and covered in our coats -
took it all away from me again.
-
If nothing lasts forever, I'd have to go
with that. The plum is like the gold,
withered and gone away. It was the
wintry end of 1967, and I was hanging
on but by a thread. (Though I survived,
yes, I might have been better off dead).
So, ach : mesmerized me, so ach.
