4252. SOME THINGS ARE JUST TOO BORING

SOME THINGS ARE
JUST TOO BORING

Like John Singleton Copley's portrait of
Paul Revere; the fat fingers and their odd
reflection on silver with a glint; a blank
background of no real consequence at all.
Two hundred years later, all that dead
space would surely be used. No more
of that putting errant heads on other's
torsos. And then, there are other things:
My God, all those boring people.
Helen, again, with her small and
numbered tales and dates and stories
and observations. Egad! shut up! All
such, with that oh so critical eye.
The cackling of the rowers and
the fire-chiefs, their wandering
mouths and the sheep they rear
on their little farm. Those people,
insisting on holding candles
while singing 'Born Free'.
