12,021. EARLY THIS DAY

EARLY THIS DAY
I arrived to Princeton on the 5:11.
Man was I early, but I knew a lot
of things that were good for the
dawn. This old field here, was once
a battlefield, and over there, that's
where they had a quarry. See it
in the daylight  -  all these buildings,
that's where they got the stone from,
where the library is now. Forrestal.
Witherspoon. All those crazy gents.
Aaron Burr grew up here, died, and
was buried here too, later. The houses
they claim for early days, they weren't
really here, or not in the places they
are now. It's all become now part
of the lore and the mythology they
built. Things got moved around  -
like that yellow house there. If
you can make things fit, the story's
all yours for the making. No one
knows a difference, and so what
if they did.
