WORMWOOD
The briefest book I ever read
was titled 'Wormwood.' No,
not the one you're thinking of;
this was written in France, in
1704, by some fellow named
Jacques de Maritaine Sur
Dufillay - the book was
shorter than his name. His
major premise was that the
day's astronomy was so
important that all things
depended on it; the glimmers
and messages of the Heavens
affected fates and battles and
wars and peace too. We know
now that's all a bunch of
gibberish (do we not?) but
still I wonder about that
vision at Milvian Bridge.
