TAKING FOREVER TO HEAL
Time flees so fast from its
own swift running that I can't
keep anything straight. All
that my cosmic eyes can see
are the accelerated travels of
suns and moons, racing along
the skies with no regard for
time. Part of me remembers
when a day was a day and a
night was a night. No more.

This hardscrabble candy-case
I'm scratching along tears my
skin and opens new wounds -
things I then have to live with
and which seem never to seal.
It's the opposite, surely, of
the swiftness of time. Taking
forever to heal.
