VESPERS
I guess I should be doing
something. You want to kick
it off with 'something,' too.
In that liturgical sense. After
all, the sun's going down, so
what better reason can be found
for yet another day gone down?
-
Nothing to do with Vespasian
either, I'd suppose - no real
reason for Roman stupidity in
here. All those monks with their
heads bowed down after another
day of their scurrying around.
-
Crushing grapes, making wine,
pressing wheat to bake their
bread, stopping near noon again
to be fed, reading their tomes
and offices and hours. Compline
and morning hours. Oh! All that
random grief again! (At least,
this way they get some rest
for happiness).
