STOP TAKING
THINGS SERIOUSLY
Once I met the daughter of
happenstance, my rowboat
sank its oars. I went drowning
in a sea of tears. 'Stop taking
things seriously,' the mermaid
said, 'and, hey, loosen up your
shroud, OK? I'm looking for
Jonah and that whale, not you.'
-
I tried to answer back but all I
got was seaweed and bubbles;
a gargle of green spittle like I'd
never seen before. 'He left on
that last ship leaving', I screamed,
'and Jonah, I think, stayed behind.'
-
'OK,' she muttered, 'then I AM
looking for you. I've changed
my mind.'
