PRELIMINARY
NOTIFICATION
I have swallowed the batter and
licked the spoon too - things one
does as a kid. 'Nine times out of
ten,' my mother used to say. Or 'Ten
to one' also. I used to think she was
a gambler, knowing the odds.

But now, all that's over and
everything's certain. One hundred
percent the sky will be dark tonight;
one hundred percent you'll not
outlast life. I can't get any deeper
than that; nor more certain either.

One thing a doctor never says is,
'Let it run its course.' They so
much like to get involved.
