CARRYING ICE
Maybe to Baltimore, or somewhere
near. I've got nothing to lose - to catch
a running train? How'd they come up
with that idea? The lady across from
me has a leather hat. It looks pretty
nice, but I wonder if it fits her, who
she is and all. There's a plaque on the
wall where she sits, about this long
straightaway corridor from Princeton
Junction to New Brunswick. In 1956
they used that strip to test the new
'high-speed' trains. Flat-out and full
throttle boogie-time. Hmmm. I do
now wonder that that worked out.
Nothing really fast runs by here now.
How fast does a fast train go?
I really don't know.
