LUNGFISH
Lungfish. I never knew what they were,
but my father often mentioned them. And
deep within the water was their kingdom. As
a boy, I wondered how and if the light was
filtered to them, and what did they see? They
dwelt within the mud and dross of murky fresh
waters. They had something like two lungs, too.
Sacs that filtered air anyway. I gave up all that
so as not to get too deeply immersed in water
lore. Such Science was not to be my métier!
