MANOMUR AND THEODOSIUS
Five saints have lived and died here,
each from far-flung places. Amidst
these trees and ringing bells, the white
garlands and bricked lanes held them.
-
The cattle in the monks' fields groaned
and moaned their noises, stepping up
the clatter only as the needs arose. The
gracefully-topped barns stood steady:
storms and greats winds ripping the
landscape but damaging nothing.
-
Iconoclasts were disallowed. The years
passed, quietly and steady; like the
strumming of some Greek guitar.
