TWO STEPS FROM
THE SKYLIGHT
They were the heaviest and the strongest
and the largest too - the ones with the
best story. They'd carried the skylight
from Kansas and took it the entire way.

Here they were landed on Canarsie Blvd.
with quite a story to tell : the guy along
the way demanding to give them a ride,
which they refused but he insisted. All
that Pennsylvania hospitality, they said,
grew tiresome fast.

They'd wanted a diner with those little
cereal packs where you open along
the perforation and that becomes your
bowl for the milk and all. But all they
got as Bob's Big Boys and a couple
of Starbucks along the way.
Who wants that?
