ANIMAL
The animal within me crawls out, sometimes.
Delicious frenzy, running amok. Those fenceposts
past which I clamor - they have locks and gates
of no use at all. I make small mark of what retains
me. Little time at the station, little reason to remain.
-
The girl I know, from Africa, she's here again today,
asking me questions - where's a computer, when
does the university library open, what is a 'Wawa?'
I can understand all these question; they are simple
and sound. A truer world just takes new eyes and ears.
Both of those things - after my transformation - I have.
