11,668. YOU CAN'T HOLD THE HAND

YOU CAN'T HOLD THE HAND
You can't hold the hand that
holds the heart, not even jugglers
do that  -  always that extra object
in the air. Where does it have to go?
-
There's another slight building on
29th street, where the man with the
leather aprons still fixes shoes, though
he says it's impossible now to get any
work. Most people wear cheap, and
cheap is now plastic and glue, bottoms
with no stitching, no leathercraft at all.
-
The only people who need work done
are the very wealthy, those buying rich
shoes, and they won't come to him.
Leather work is hard to find; it's mostly
all gone know too. 'The world's a crummy
mess, but it's still chasing me. I get the
bills for everyday  -  one after the other  -
always coming in the mail. What  am
I to do?'
