4830. MR. APPLESTUFFING

MR. APPLESTUFFING
This lake is as big as a pond; this pond is
a large as two oceans. Nothing makes much
sense from the inside out  -  the man from
Laramie Heights is still twirling his gun.
-
One hundred men are outside at the gate-watch.
Two long dead kings are returning. If they've
come back to  life, no one wants them. if they're
yet dead there's no welcome anyway.
-
The last time I played cards with Death and Life,
two simple sides of the same shell-casing, we sat on
a beach  -  a rickety table roughed by the tides. No
one won and no one lost. That's just the way things are.
I am still here  -  it was a draw.
