SKETCH
A line of tall trees ran forward;
the length of a pencil-scratch at
least, while the man was chewing
that pencil, as well. Funny artist,
between takes.
-
Lethargy, and his brother, Languid,
seemed both to sign each picture
together; perhaps doubling the
price in their own single mind.
-
What is it that we do for others
anyway? A simple kindness, like
answering a request for directions:
The window rolls down, the guy
behind the wheel gestures, and
then he says, 'How far to Mills?'
-
Or is it not more than that: A push
from the heart to connect to another;
learn that face or expression; see
how the attention is caught?
-
Even when sightless, the eyes can see.
