12,985. FOR STEPHEN CRANE HERE

FOR STEPHEN CRANE HERE
While holding the torch for the
Lamplight Parade, the fire consumed
all my vision : I went home dismayed,
with nothing more said. It was part of
my now-feeble condition.
-
Long ago I got used to my own situation.
I couldn't share anyone else's; sitting
around, staying up late, to read 'Maggie:
a Girl of the Streets' by Stephen Crane.
I felt akin to the youth within.
-
Now even that has passed away and I
sit in a scolding graveyard right next to
Crane's poor grave. Alone and aloof,
pushed off by others, he, like me, gets
but a very small spot of his own.
