WHEN THE PESTILENCE
When the pestilence came to stay
we all fell to the ground, realizing
no place else to go. Crimes against
the Republic, they called it. There
were some men in the tower, lost in
their space. We called them James
and Giuseppe and sought their grace.
But there was none to be had. Just
the silly meandering of people who'd
broken out in the same warts that the
pestilence brings : crimes against both
thought and reason, the secular faults
of an idiot race; men squirming to
fail, in an idiot place.
fail, in an idiot place.
