GRAND RIPOSTE
Air power could have won the
Civil War; we'd all be calling
Mammies for our breakfast days.
It didn't, of course, and it never
came to pass - Antietam and
Fredricksburg notwithstanding,
all those sickening battles of
numbers and death until 600,000
had passed through the vent.
What I can't remember is already
forgotten. We've lost our lives
fighting for cotton? King Harvest
has finally come?
