9346. MERIWETHER LEWIS

MERIWETHER LEWIS
Half the duo, worth the both.
What a combo shows : hard work.
And past the River Platte and all
of that (no, I'm not real sure of
where they went), all those able
passages and ways along deep
trails and uncut, untrodden paths.
How much of all of this is myth,
I'll never know; each new sixth-grade
story adds something to it more. Yet
time itself will kill this story soon  -
no kid these days will get the gist
of any of this. To them, it's all of a
thing to do what others have done
before. No snack-bar at the other
end of Hades either. 'Quoth the
raven, Nevermore.'
