4901. SPARROW-FACED

SPARROW-FACED
Within the confines of a very loose fit, those
ambling men walk the platform above raging water :
at the end of a nearby pier, two Spanish locals are
fishing, with a radio running on and their bicycles
chained to the fence. They bend over together, a
unison as if connected Siamese-style. Twins in
the same debauch, intent on stealing a fish
from the sea.
-
In my own life, I've already heard it a few times,
always and each time perplexed : a fishing boat
named the Sea Sparrow, a fish called a sea
sparrow, and a dream out at sea that takes
off and escapes, never to be fulfilled, also
called a sea-sparrow  -  which leaves a
sad sailor, supposedly, sparrow-faced.
