DRIVEN LIKE THE WIND
Driven like the wind, and the
pantry holds no summit - all
things haphazard, as if blown
about. Cheesy ricecakes and
Rice Chex too; a jar of maple
syrup from Vermont, sugar now
coming through. We crystallize
like dreams as well, I'd 'hazard'
my guess. Beans galore, those
glazed and syrupy kinds, with
southern molasses drawn into
a broth that's as thick as a tar.
-
Rice in a bag; Basmati, that is.
Peanuts in a shell; Rickenhoffen
Chocolate, from Austria? How'd
that get in there...and - yes - from
a bag my sister gave us, Pocasville
peeled and organic and roasted
chestnuts still! There they all
are. Together as one.
