14,414. ALL OF THAT AND LITTLE ELSE

ALL OF THAT AND LITTLE ELSE
Once dreamtime took over  -  like the
aboriginal space in Australia  -  all
things wavered and drifted away. No
longer were there any words to say.
I watched the girls in their everyday
manners, and the clerks at the fruit
stand with their idling chatters, and
knew none of it was any longer meant
for me. Clocks and histories had lost
all meanings. Maybe this was once a
railroad town shunting coal around,
but it didn't matter now.
-
Outside of meaning, there is anarchy
awakened. Why should anything seek
order after this moment? The hordes
of wasted ideas and ideals, the moments
of head-bent people constantly referring
to phones, staring at screens as they walk.
What is all this? Cannot anyone talk in a
once-normal manner?
