CHARACTER ASSIGNMENT
Nature changes its fitful ways right
before our eyes. Waters turn green.
Rivers slow down. It's either flood
or drought, passing through town.

As if nothing can ever be improved,
we pick up the axes and dawdle by
trees; neither really wanting to cut
or to work. It's just something we do.

Humans as the most unlucky of animals?
Yes, maybe that too.
