THE DISTANT CARRIAGE
Like chestnuts - broken on the
ground - that just remain - curious
and shiny brown, as if polished by
air and dilemma combined : certain
truths and realizations linger. Two
carriages passing, loaded high with
hay. I watch the bonneted ladies drive
them, slowly past my country lane.
