CIVIL SKIRMISH
I'm only hurting a little. For
John Ashbery is dead. And
Kenneth Koch is dead, and
Kenneth Rexroth too. John
O'Hara also is long gone.
Those Lunch Poems were
quite the riot. I never wanted
to string him along, nor up,
so I never let him know of
my follow-up volume to his
fine work. I'd called it 'Lynch
Poems,' in honor of him.
