11,529. THE JAPANESE PICTURE

THE JAPANESE PICTURE
It's light and it's airy; the
brushstrokes are fluid, the
lines indistinct. Maybe that's
Mt. Fuji though I don't know
what to think. It seems very
often they just throw things
like that in backgrounds and
horizons. That's pretty funny,
how it hovers without words
in some national imagination.
Like Macy's or something here,
or a gauzy-light scene of our
Grand Central Station.
