Nikolai is the fly catcher, the gatherer, the
one who keeps all. He is living by the river
and making a living by the shore : catching
fish to sell and eat, keeping little children
hostage, writing new proposals for how the
world should end. These are the sorts of things
that keep him happy. And now it seems that
one minds, and they all just let him go.
