WHAT COMES
Haberdashery and Huckleberry?
The wide oasis beckons - there
is a fence around the parkland
and bicycles lean upon it. Not
that anyone uses them : towns
now supply what one used to
need to buy.
-
There's a pile of tomatoes for
the taking on the library porch.
A blue, plastic bucket. Most of
the time, I note, it stays pretty
full. Maybe tomatoes are not
what people seek today.
-
I no longer know any of that.
My gardener friend, Bob, has
buckets of stuff he grows, and
he merely asks a donation for
the local-charity-cause in his
bucket, for untold richness.
-
The things he grows - I watch
him sometimes, heavy at work
in small garden kingdom. He
wisely plants in the ground,
and gets what comes.
