CALLING THOMAS
MESSINGER
The man who owns the bicycle shop
is forty years old today. On one hand
he is missing a finger - says it never
bothers him at all. He lost it so long
ago he hardly now remembers, in an
accident, on a job, at the mill.
-
He left that work, after some small
recuperation. Being right handed, and
having lost a left finger, he felt better.
And he could work on bicycles best,
with his good, tool hand. He was twenty
seven then - rented an empty shed
and was on his way.
-
Fours later and needing more space,
he bought the shed and the property and
rebuilt a far better, more large, building
to house both shop and stock. Now the
people come to him - for repairs, and
new sales too. He now calls himself,
'Thomas, the Bike, Messinger.'
