IN TRIPLICATE
I took the waterway dry, skating
past places like Keyport and Rye.
In my mind I inhabited a Kingship
all mine : So rich with expectation
that even the trees bowed down.
-
I was caked with mud, and I was
forced by disaster to sit things out,
but nothing ever brought me down.
Brielle was my pound cake; Colts
Neck my fine delight. Only by
Lavallette did the thunder cease.
-
Avon-By-the-Sea was my final
casement marker : where the faery
marsh queens played. The tennis
courts were held with green,
stopping no one else ever
from coming in.
