3582. MODERN HOUSEHOLD SCURVY

MODERN HOUSEHOLD SCURVY
(Gogol's Petersburg Clerk)
Independent beekeepers, like all the rest,
grope towards a clarity often clear only
to them. To them alone. (You are coming
along nicely. I am getting all that you say).
They sit around to watch what develops -
and, like people skimming time -  before
they know it, something does. A modern
household scurvy soon ensues.
When we get caught between the moments,
it is only the one option left  -  to opine in
a silent array of nods and motions that
the part of us which disagrees is in
control and full. (You may take the
opportunity now, to memorize the
dichotomy and either linger or leave).
-
Gogol's Petersburg clerk says :
'There is no place for me.'
