GUNNER REDUNDANCY
We had a sniper on the bank roof,
and over along the wharf, two other
guys with high-powered rifles had
triangulated the entryway. If that guy
came out, he was dead. Some locals
kept milling around - we had to
shoo them away more than once.
What is it with people? I'll never
know. Urban combat, at this weak
level, seems to get no one upset;
a sideshow, something to watch.
Until, of course, that guy's vest goes
off and there's a head in the pizza.
Then they ll want to know why,
and how this could happen. I bet
they take more precautions putting
the tissues away at home. All for
nothing, any of this .

We've already lost three guys in
two years. This kind of job isn't
easy; nor is it any fun. Have you
ever seen a mother screaming that
you've killed her son?
