5998. WHO INVENTED THIS ABERNATHY?

WHO INVENTED
THIS ABERNATHY?
Out in the center of the field, the kid with the
brown mitt caught the fly on the fly, running
center field like it was all the world. One batter
and the noise of wood at the smack of the ball.
-
I'm home early. My leg hurts just watching. It
must have been a baseball league or a high
school team. Late, late in the season for all
that to see. Team score, raised high.
-
Out in the park  -  dogs are running, the river
splits around itself, cormorants gather on a pier.
