5124. HIGH-POINT

HIGH-POINT
Head in hat, hands in hold, hat
on head : how does it make this
conclusion? The man on the historic
horse-ride colonial tour will tell you -
'this is where Ben Franklin shed a tear.'
A small guy was playing a saxophone nearby,
and  -  believe me  -  five black guys and one
girl walked along banging drums, each one a
different drum. They were asking money for
their passing performance.
-
It never transpired before, that people would
live without understanding their times. Entire decades
have elapsed, seemingly in what was an instant. A
reverse foreshortening then gives the look back:
everyone still talks of the eighties.
-
My boat is still in the slip.
My waterway management team
has, however, gone home, already out,
and long ago on strike.
