ASPERGUM ON
THE WINDOW-SILL
I don't know why that hit me as funny;
the doctor said put it there. We were
all in Red Hook, Brooklyn, out by
Fairway Market, just trying to waste
some time. I was looking up at those
large metal-shuttered windows from
the Civil War days, just wondering. A
black guy, acting as a guard, came out
from the gallery buildings nearby and
said we couldn't stay there; even though
it was an open area, it was off-limits.
-
No hassle, no fuss; we moved away about
thirty feet and that was good enough for
him. The building he'd come out of was
pretty nice, but one of those art-caves
that never interest me much. Out on the
street, the hydrant was leaking. I thought
that was cooler by far.
