POLEMICS
My friend Sally was talking to me,
we were having a beer, or two or three.
She sat there drumming, her fingers
a'tap - she likes table tops, she does
it like that : rat and tat and tat.

Well, anyway, John Bonham she's
not, nor Ginger Baker either. Levon
Helm had a touch a bit like that,
though close but no cigar.

How do you talk to a lady drummer?
Meg White? Karen Carpenter? Even
Moe Tucker (Maureen to you). It's
all so nice and always civil, the cavil
just goes away; very friendly like.

Pleasant days make quiet times,
when all the polemics are gone.
