JAPANESE FOOT DOCTOR
Your Japanese foot doctor, I see now, has
just put your leg on his table. Part of some
new collection? Or a therapy I didn't know of?

A long time ago, when Truman dropped those
bombs, a lot of things changed. A nation and
a people were thwarted, living low : ash and
muck and destruction and danger.

Now most everything has been rebuilt and given
new swagger - Ginza to Fuji, up and down the
hat. All those riots and grumbles about Narita,
the airport displacing the sacred - all over and
forgotten. What they live with now, the last of
the old, as they all die off, is nothing than better
called 'The Horror Imagination'. It always lingers.
