I LEFT HOME
I left home at a hundred and four.
It felt good to get out of the house.
I knew where not to go, and what
wouldn't work. Like that whole 'Go
west, young man,' thing. It was out
of the question, for sure. So I went
east, but I was already there and all
I got were wet feet. So I determined
to look that up - what was meant
about 'trying' things out, like when
you 'get your feet wet' doing something
new, the first time. The first time out.
The first time-out? Wasn't that with
God and Eve and Adam, in some
Garden where they were hiding and
He, the God guy, somehow couldn't
find them, and had to ask,
'Adam, where are you?'
