I USED TO KNOW
The caterpillar really can become a
dove. I found that out on the wing.
I was camping one day on the
Appalachian Trail - eating Spam
from a can with a man and his
plan, who were hiking down
from Maine. I'd say they had a
ways to go. Myself? I wasn't
going anywhere - neither north,
nor south. I'd just jumped in by
the Water Gap for a three-day
leisurely stroll and back. No Mt.
Katahdin for me - no Georgia
either, you see.
