This stream breaches its edges each
Spring : the water rises up in torrents
and scours the stream bed too, ripping
up limbs and throwing down rocks.
Depending on the Winter's snow, of
course. If the Winter was pretty dry
and there was no real snow-cover,
then it's not so bad. But otherwise,
more like it used to be, with some
two or three feet of accumulated
old snows, it could get pretty rough.
I remember the year, ten or so back,
Renny McFarrell lost his two old
Corvairs to the rush of the waters.
Man, he was pissed; he loved those
two cars - really good shape, kept
after well. Then they were gone,
and all shot to hell. He was cursing
and wailing at the sun for weeks.
