12,471. MOMENTARY RUDENESS

MOMENTARY RUDENESS
'Whilst' taking to oneself, is not
an obvious fault. Lift up the tree
and the grave cover too : you'll
see a hundred moments you never
had. As a child, I felt I lived in a
tree  -  there was a hollowed-out
oak at the rear property line, a long
ago fire had burned it open, and,
though the tree still stood, and
prospered and grew, it was hollow
and open to about 15 feet up.
I could hide my smaller self in
there quite nicely, and did. Often.
I never wished to leave. To this
day, in my spirit I'm there. I
remember every crack and
fissure deep within that tree.
Where I stood. Where I
ought still be.
