ON BALANCE
If God is young, then I am old.
On the other hand, perhaps, if
God is old, then I am young.
Though I do not really think
that either of these terms apply,
I play along - my semblance
of sensibility, my reverence
in the song, carries me.

In a duplicitous sense, it's all
false though in fact I am in
earnest about it all. If there's
a Heaven, of course I seek it.
If there is not, how badly I've
been duped?

If God is wise, I am dumb.
If God is dumb, I am alike to
that; for being very dumb too.
